Each high school has its own YLI club. Meetings are held twice a month and consist of planning and coordinating our service-learning projects, team-building, and on-going leadership training. At our meetings, students propose ideas for new service projects and college visits; they reflect on completed serviceprojects; and they grow as a group to support each other. Students also learn about other extracurricular and leadership development opportunities beyond YLI.
Our bi-monthly meetings are held on the:
- 2nd and 4th Thursdays at Chapel Hill High School (Mr. Irwin’s room A212)
- 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at Carrboro High School (Ms. Paige’s room D217)
- 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at East Chapel Hill High School (Mrs. Barnes’ room 185)
We hope that students can then transfer their leadership skills to involvement in other student and civic organizations.
The BRMA high school specialist serves as the club advisor, assisting students with group and individual service-learning projects and coordinating college visits. Each club has an advisor within the school as well who provides on-going support and their classroom for our meetings.
