Mentors can use this list of Chapel Hill-Carrboro community resources to help with planning activities for their mentees.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA
The Y is gracious enough to let our mentors and mentees use their facilities for free when you are together. Just check in at the front desk and they’ll verify your participation in our program through a list of active pairs that we send them twice per year.

DSI Comedy Theater
DSI offers free comedy classes and summer camps to BRMA students and mentors. DSI classes help participants improve verbal ability, enhance active listening skills, build body awareness, and boost self-confidence. Improvisation can have a positive impact both on- and off-stage. By learning performance games in a safe environment, DSI students are encouraged to take risks, and they develop the ability to both tell stories collaboratively and work in the moment. Contact any BRMA staff member for more information.

Carrboro’s Department of Recreation and Parks has many classes and activities that you can help your mentee participate in. You might even consider taking a class together. BRMA’s enrichment funds can pay for your mentee’s participation.
